For Adults

You look like you've got it all together.

But when you're alone, really alone, you feel like something fundamental is missing.

People describe you as "solid." "Reliable." "Disciplined." They have no idea that underneath all of that, you're exhausted from performing a version of yourself that isn't even you.

You say yes when you mean no. You suppress your opinion to keep the peace. You overwork to earn approval you'll never feel. And underneath the performance, there's a simmering anger you can't quite name. Often connected to a father who demanded everything and gave you no room to be human.

You don't need more discipline. You don't need another book. You need someone who has been exactly where you are. Someone who built the shell, lived inside it for decades, and then dismantled it piece by piece.

Where this comes from

It is not therapy. It is a dojo.

The father

Born in 1945 in Asaka, Tokyo. He learned karate as a survival skill in post-war Tokyo — not as competition, as self-defence. Years of daily practice led to national championship victories. He arrived in Australia in 1978 and began teaching.

I was born 1945. Japan lost war. To survive, I had to be strong.

The son

Harrison began training at 11. 2nd Dan black belt. He inherited the discipline and the wound in the same lesson, and spent years separating them.

I am the first child of my father, and he was 54 when he had me.

A legacy Harrison is proud to continue. — SBS World News

The Programme

Return to Self

For men who built the life that looks right, but feels hollow. Who sense the weight of something inherited, unspoken, unresolved. This is where that work begins.

12 weeks. Three phases. A structured programme for men who sense there is more beneath the surface. This is not therapy. It is coaching: a training framework for the inner world, built on martial arts, Buddhism, and honest self-inquiry.

Over 12 weeks, you learn to recognise inherited reactions earlier, separate them from your own values, and make choices you can stand behind.

01 Weeks 1–4

Separate

Shu — to keep, to hold the form

See the patterns without rejecting yourself.

See the pattern for what it is. Identify the inherited programmes running your life: the people-pleasing, the performing, the suppressed anger. Begin to separate your authentic self from the survival strategies you built as a child.

Self-trust begins when you can tell the difference between an inherited reaction and what you genuinely think, feel and value.

From the men I've worked with

In their words.

I met Harrison after years of searching for a martial arts teacher who could balance the traditions of Japan with a modern framework, and for something harder to name. What I was really seeking was the true mind, body, and soul connection within Karate training. As a teacher, coach, and sensei, Harrison helped me remove the mask, calm the mind, and move with intention rather than just speed, power, and grit. His approach seamlessly blends traditional and modern principles, encouraging effortless movement and the discovery of personal flow. He doesn't just train the body. He guides you to confront and unlock the mental barriers that limit both martial and psychological growth.
Matt Halpin Matt Halpin Return to Self — Men's Coaching
To sum up my experience with Harrison I'll provide this quote by Albert Schweitzer: "Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit."
James Bolton James Bolton Return to Self — Men's Coaching
I was very intrigued with how he taught karate. I learned how to be calm by being in a state of panic: I learned to finish to the end of the line by stopping halfway over and over again: I learned to be free by imposing restrictions on myself. Harrison has taught me many things about the art of fighting and myself through his training. He has a comforting yet firm voice that is a constant reminder for me to 'be decisive.' I will forever be grateful for such a presence in my life.
Harshil Dave Martial Arts
I have consistently trained with Harrison for over 3 years. Harrison is wise beyond his years but still provides hospitality and a humbleness that encourages others to forge their own path. I highly recommend Harrison Saito as a tutor in Karate as the lessons I have learnt have far exceeded the realms I thought were possible from learning a martial art.

Before You Apply

Straight answers.

Is this therapy?

No. This is coaching — a training framework for the inner world, built on martial arts, Buddhism and honest self-inquiry. It is not therapy, diagnosis or emergency care. If you are in crisis, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Do I need martial arts experience?

No. Karate is used as a method for working with the nervous system, attention and pressure. Plenty of men arrive having never trained. The physical practice is adapted to the person in front of me.

How much does it cost?

We cover that on the first conversation, once I understand what you are actually carrying and whether I can help. I will not put you through a pitch to get to it — ask directly and I will answer directly.

Where do sessions happen?

In person around Chatswood and Sydney’s North Shore, or online Australia-wide.

How much do I have to disclose?

You are never required to disclose more than you choose, or to prove yourself through an exercise. The pacing is adapted to you.

If this feels close to what you're carrying.

Start with an honest conversation. No pressure. We'll work out whether the programme fits.
