The Story

A martial artist, a teacher, and the son of a war-survivor Buddhist monk.

My father was a war-survivor from post-WW2 Japan, a martial artist, and a Buddhist monk. He gave me discipline. He gave me martial arts. He gave me Buddhism. He also gave me people-pleasing, suppressed rage, and a five-year-old frozen inside a grown man's body.

I took all of it — the gift and the wound — and walked a path that only I could walk. The same tools that caused my trauma became the exact things that set me free.

Today, I'm a high school teacher, a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Karate, and a coach. I help young people find their voice through HSC mentoring, and I help men stop performing and start living through martial arts, Buddhism, and structured inner work.

For Adults

You look like you've got it all together.

But when you're alone — really alone — you feel like something fundamental is missing.

People describe you as "solid." "Reliable." "Disciplined." They have no idea that underneath all of that, you're exhausted from performing a version of yourself that isn't even you.

You say yes when you mean no. You suppress your opinion to keep the peace. You overwork to earn approval you'll never feel. And underneath the performance, there's a simmering anger you can't quite name — often connected to a father who demanded everything and gave you no room to be human.

You don't need more discipline. You don't need another book. You need someone who has been exactly where you are — who built the shell, lived inside it for decades, and then dismantled it piece by piece.

The Programme

Return to Self

12 weeks. Three phases. Built for high-functioning men who are ready to stop performing and start living. This is not therapy. This is structured coaching — like a training programme for your inner world.

Blindfolded training in the dark — confronting what you cannot see

Weeks 1–4

Separate

See the pattern for what it is. Identify the inherited programmes running your life — the people-pleasing, the performing, the suppressed anger. Begin to separate your authentic self from the survival strategies you built as a child.

Blindfolded sparring — returning to the body through trust

Weeks 5–8

Return

Go back to the origin. Understand where the patterns came from — your father, your family system, your culture. Process the grief, the anger, the loss. This is where the real work happens. Not intellectually. In your body.

Seated meditation in seiza — integration and wholeness

Weeks 9–12

Integrate

The shell and the self become one. Build a daily practice that sustains the work. Set boundaries without guilt. Speak your truth without performing. The discipline stays. The strength stays. But now there's a man behind it — not just a performance.

What's Included

12 x weekly 1:1 coaching sessions
Martial arts integration work
Buddhist meditation and breathwork
Somatic journaling frameworks
WhatsApp support between sessions
The Life-Changer Guarantee

"Complete all 12 sessions and do the work. If by the end of 12 weeks you are not a fundamentally different man — I will continue working with you at no additional cost until you are."

"The outside world is a reflection of the inside world."

For Youth

More than tutoring.
Building the person.

I've coached youth for over a decade. I know how they work. They don't need more pressure. They don't need another adult telling them what to do. They need to feel safe — a regulated nervous system — and they need to believe in themselves.

My approach goes beyond content. I help students build the confidence to think independently, the discipline to show up consistently, and the self-awareness to manage the anxiety that comes with high-stakes performance.

The HSC is not just an exam. It's a pressure test for how your child handles stress, organises their thinking, and finds their voice under pressure. I know the system from the inside — as a high school teacher, and as someone who has walked beside hundreds of students through it.

Testimonials

In their words.

HSC Student

"Harrison Saito is a man who doesn't stop at anything to find truth within himself. His relentless pursuit for understanding the life we live in is one that I've never seen before and has inspired me to look deeper within myself. He instilled within me the importance of English as a subject, not just in my schooling experience but in being able to expand on my ability to understand the complexity within situations. On a more personal level, Harrison has been one of my greatest mentors."

Martial Arts

"I was very intrigued with how he taught karate. I learned how to be calm by being in a state of panic: I learned to finish to the end of the line by stopping halfway over and over again: I learned to be free by imposing restrictions on myself. Harrison has taught me many things about the art of fighting and myself through his training. He has a comforting yet firm voice that is a constant reminder for me to 'be decisive.' I will forever be grateful for such a presence in my life."

Martial Arts

HSC Student

"He was a positive influence in helping me realise the reality of the HSC — that it is only 'a test' and a 'pathway to university' which did not define myself as a human being. He raised an emphasis on focusing on the progression of my abilities and skills rather than results. Overall, it has really made a productive impact on managing my expectations and relieving myself from the burden to attain high marks. As a result, I actually experienced more academic success which has persisted into my tertiary studies."

Martial Arts

"I have consistently trained with Harrison for over 3 years. Harrison is wise beyond his years but still provides hospitality and a humbleness that encourages others to forge their own path. I highly recommend Harrison Saito as a tutor in Karate as the lessons I have learnt have far exceeded the realms I thought were possible from learning a martial art."
