HSC English Tutoring (Chatswood + online)

I help NSW Prelim & HSC students (Standard and Advanced) improve their writing and exam performance, which then builds confidence to use these skills under pressure.

This is more than tutoring. Students don't struggle only because they "don't get English". They struggle because stress, avoidance and low confidence block execution. I coach skills so progress is consistent.

I don't teach like a 'textbook' teacher.

I coach thinking, writing and how students show up so they can perform in life without burning out. I aim to hold space for authenticity and curiosity for them to feel safe to open up.

I find students engage because I meet them where they are, not where a curriculum thinks they should be.

Standards are important but they shouldn't dampen innate youthful innovation and elasticity.

How it works

1. We diagnose the weak link (Skills, structure, confidence, consistency)

2. We build a repeatable method (Thesis > Paragraph control > Analysis > Feedback)

3. We train for assessment performance. (Timing, planning and steady execution).

Below are what some past students and parents have said about our journey together...

Marissa Wong (Chatswood High)

"Harrison was my English tutor from year 10 through to year 12, providing me lessons once a week. As well as teaching me key academic skills required such as analysing techniques, applyinng them and writing essays, he also taught me various things outside of English and academics which I continue to apply to my life.

Before being taught by Harrison, I struggled with the subject and was getting Cs and Bs average but since our regular lessons by year 12, I became rank 1 in my grade and I felt more confident when it came to tests and assignments. I was also able to do well in other subjects as Harrison taught me the importance of time management, organisation and allowing me to better allocate and divide me time between studying and personal time.

While Harrison's teachings and guidance helped me when it came to improving my grades and understanding the subject matter, more importantly he made sure our lessons were always enjoyable as well as productive. Although I don't particularly enjoy studying, I genuinely looked forward to and enjoyed our lessons and life talks.

Thanks to Harrison's continual guidance, support and encouragement, I was able to achieve the ATAR I was aiming for, but also gained a better understanding of myself and what I am capable of when I put the work in.

I am grateful to have had Harrison as my tutor for those 3 years and know he will continue to have a positive impact on the lives of many others. "

Tamie Wong (Marissa's mum)

"Harrison taught my daughter for 3 years as an English tutor from year 10 to the end of year 12. He was always very helpful, thoughtful and encouraging. I believe he was/is a very unique tutor who takes students to higher levels by helping them find their own potential.

My daughter became an All Rounder and was rank 1 in English for her grade with Harrison's help. Through his help, my daughter not only improved her marks but also learnt how to cope with stressful events in life. I am very grateful to have had Harrison teaching my daughter.
